13 Teeth and Counting

Hi Everybody,

It's me, Beau Capri! Mommy says she's been delinquent and hasn't posted the pictures of me walking yet. I don't know what delinquent means but I wish she would hurry and put them up! I know you want to see them. She says she hasn't forgotten and will put them up soon.

In the meantime, here's what's been happening with me. I have 13 teeth now! And in the next few days I'll have 16. That makes it a lot easier to chew my food. I really only eat ground turkey and rice still, though because I'm allergic to most all foods. We've been going to see skin and allergy specialists at Children's Hospital in Los Angeles for a few months now, and the medicines they have Mommy and Daddy get me help smooth out my skin, and keep the itch down a little bit. The nutritionist there said to start introducing other foods we cut out and use the rotation diet, but we've found out that I'm still pretty allergic to most of those foods. I took a blood test (which was NOT fun at all, I screamed when the needle went in, but then Mommy says I was a brave boy afterwards, and that it was probably worse for her watching me get the shot than it was for me). It showed that I was allergic to everything they tested for: wheat, corn, soy, dairy, eggs, and other foods). Mommy says she's always known I was allergic to all those things, because she could see my reaction to them even when she ate those foods and I was nursing, but the blood test confirmed that.

But Mommy says I'm having more good days than bad days and I notice that too. I don't itch as often now, and when I do it's because of my teeth coming in or some dyes in the clothes I wear.

Mommy and Daddy and my baby doctor say I'm really bow-legged now since I have been walking. I say well, of course, I am, how else would you expect Beau to walk? But the grownups say it's not healthy, so I'll be going to see another special doctor. I can't spell that one, but it has to do with taking care of my legs so they go grow tall and straight. I'll be glad when I don't have to go so see doctors anymore, and I know Mommy and Daddy will be too!

Even though I have eczema and "Beau" legs, I'm still a very happy baby, at least that's what Mommy and Daddy say to me. I just know that I love learning my alphabet, colors, animal sounds, and how to count. I don't know everything about those things, yet, but I'm getting there! Go ahead, ask me what a sheep says!

That's it for now. See you next time!

I'm Walking!!

Hi Everybody! It's me Beau Capri!

It's been a little while since I've updated you, but I have big news now! I'm walking! It's soooo much fun! I was really scared at first, and Mommy says I was really wobbly like a drunken sailor! I'm not sure what a drunken sailor is, but they must be pretty unsteady!

Everyday my legs get stronger and stronger, and Mommy and Daddy say I become more confident. I took 2 or 3 steps at first, but now I can walk lots of steps. Daddy says one day I took 25 steps in a row. He was really proud of me and so was Mommy. Now I can stand up without holding onto anything and I can take off walking. I still fall back on my bum, but I'm walking much more and much longer now.

Daddy says I also walk like a crab now. He says I want to walk so much, but that I'm still going back and forth from crawling and walking, and sometimes I just combine the two and walk on my hands and feet at the same time.

Mommy says she'll put up some pictures soon of me walking, and maybe even a video, but until then, here are some other more recent pictures of me, Mommy and Daddy when we went to play in Griffith Park one day. We had fun with Mommy's sunglasses and I rode on a merry go round for the first time that day! It was fun!

That's it for now, see you next time!

Beau On a Mission

Beau Capri's Block

Hi Everybody, It's me Beau! Mommy says I have a new mission: to walk! She says since I'm 13 months old I should be walking any minute. Right now I can pull myself up on furniture, by holding onto Mommy and Daddy's legs, and can stand up and balance all by self without holding onto anything. Mommy and Daddy hold their arms out so that I can take steps toward them, but I haven't done it by myself yet. It seems kind of scary! I feel like I'm going to fall, but one of these days I'm going to try it.
Mommy says I make friends everywhere I go. I just like people, I talk to them (Mommy says in my own special language), smile, and wave to everybody. They smile, talk and wave to me, it would be rude not to do the same thing back!

One lady I made friends with at Mommy's office nmed Fay got me a walker yesterday! She sees me crawling in the office or just outside the door in the hallway, and always stops to say hi. When Mommy told her how I can stand by myself, but won't take steps yet, she thought a walker might help.
See you next time!

Return of Beau Capri's Block

Beau Capri's Block

Hi Everybody! It's me Beau! Mommy says my column is moving to our blog now, instead of going into the CCN newsletter. I'm not sure I understand what all that means, but I'm just happy to let you know what's been going on with me again.

On my first birthday on August 9th Daddy gave me my first real hair cut. So now my Beau Hawk is gone! But that's okay. I don't really miss it. Mommy says she really likes my new look. Everybody says I really look like Daddy now. Here are some pictures.

I have 8 teeth now and a lot more seem to be trying to come in at the same time. It hurts sometimes. Mommy says I'm really allergic to baby orajel, so I suck on ice wrapped in a cloth which feels good on my gums when my teeth are pushing through.

Mommy says my eczema is going away after the doctor gave me some medication. I hate to take it, but Mommy makes me take it. She always gives me hugs and kisses afterwards and that makes me feel better. I also feel better because I'm not as itchy as I was, and my skin is clearing up. Mommy and Daddy say they're going to take me to Children's Hospital in Los Angeles so that the doctors can figure out why I'm so allergic to everything, and so that we can start eating some other foods. I like the turkey and rice we always eat, but Mommy says she's sick of it! Mommy says she wants to stop giving me Mommy's milk, but says she's still letting me eat that because I it helps me get better nutrition. I don't understand all that, but I know I'm just glad to still have it. I think it's great!

That's it for now. I will respond to your comments if you want to talk with me. See you next time!
